Decoder

The circuitry in a color TV receiver which transforms the detected color signals into a form suitable to operate the color tube.

Depth of Field
The in-focus range of a lens or optical system. It is measured from the distance behind an object to the distance in front of the object when the viewing lens shows the object to be in focus.

Depth of Focus
The range of sensor-to-lens distance where the image formed by the lens is clearly focused.

DB (decibel)
The power ratio of two signals.

DC
This term refers to direct current electricity. This is the type of electricity is used to power many small electronic devices.

Digital Signal Processing
Refers to an algorithm within the camera that digitizes data—the image.

Digital Slow Shutter function improves the CCD sensitivity by electrically lengthening exposure time.

Duplex (Multiplexer)
A multiplexer which allows viewing of multiple "pictures" during recording.
